Tomorrow is a big day. Tomorrow is a very exciting day for me and millions everywhere. Why? It has nothing to do with Basketball. It's not the release of a new movie we have all been dying to see. It's something bigger than that. Tomorrow is an opportunity we simply cannot let go. Tomorrow, is World Down Syndrome Day.
Tomorrow people all over the world will show their love and support for those with Down Syndrome. Tomorrow people all over the world will make it a priority to educate their communities. Tomorrow is a big day.
How will you celebrate? Who will you tell? Who can you inspire?
Tomorrow I will be in Topeka, speaking to various leaders at the Capital, advocating for those with Down Syndrome and other disabilities. Why? Because tomorrow should be a big day for everyone. Tomorrow should be a day where millions of people learn about Down Syndrome, but most importantly, that is does not define the individuals who have it. This is an opportunity to speak on these individuals behalf and let the world know that they are more than a disability. They are not a label. They are unstoppable
How can you help? Don't be afraid to stand out. I encourage you all to wear mismatched socks tomorrow to help the world "Get Comfortable With Difference". Because while the socks might look a little different, they are still socks. While these individuals might seem a little different, they are still people. They are voices that deserve to be heard. Post you photo in your mismatched socks tomorrow with hashtags #BeUnstoppable and #DisabilitynotDefinition
Tomorrow is a big day. Let's do something about it.
