There are a few exciting holidays and events that happen in December. I will take my last final of the semester on December 10th, some will celebrate Hanukah December 6-18th. There's Christmas on the 25th, and New Years Eve celebrations on the 31st. But there is another day that stands out to me during this month; a holiday close to my heart.
On December 3rd, I as well as many others around the world will celebrate "International Day of People with Disabilities". What is this day, you may ask?
It's a day to celebrate people who are more than the disability the world sees.
It's a day to remember that we are all unique in our own ways.
A day to stand up for those who are silenced.
A day to recognize that we are not defined by any disability we may have, but by the way we choose to keep pursuing our ambitions.
December 3rd is a celebration of Unstoppable people.
Will you join me in this celebration? Will you take time to look around you and recognize what makes people Unstoppable? Will you look past a disability and see a person with a heart and ambitions just like you? Will you take it a step further and share your participation with others?
On December 3rd I ask all of you to post that you are celebrating unstoppable people on this day. Please tweet, facebook, snapchat. Post photos, quotes, videos, blogs...anything that shows others what you are celebrating. Take time to honor someone you know with a disability.
Use hashtags #IDPWD2015 and #BeUnstoppable to show your support.
The only disability able to overcome us is the inability to see what we have to offer. #BeUnstoppable
